Rawabi Specialized Industrial Gases in Jubail - Rawabi Integrated Gas Company

Rawabi Specialized Industrial Gases undertook the ambitious project of constructing and energizing a state-of-the-art industrial gas plant.

Background:
Rawabi Specialized Industrial Gases undertook the ambitious project of constructing and energizing a state-of-the-art industrial gas plant. The goal of the project is to build, own, and operate a manufacturing facility adapted latest technologies to provide an extensive range of industrial, specialty gases and chemicals, in a safe and highly efficient environment while navigating the unprecedented challenges posed by the pandemic.

Scope & Timeline:
The project scope is to construct, design and commission the new industrial gases plant as well as Anhydrous & Aqueous Ammonia plant aiming to subsidize many industries. Due to the pandemic, the project was extended and taken 36 months from construction mobilization to the success of completed construction and energizing the plant.

Challenges:
Obstacles encompassed a lack of workers, disturbances in the supply chain, organizing installation and commissioning team from overseas, and the strict safety measures required to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The workforce was equipped with personal protective equipment (PPE) and required to work in shifts to maintain social distancing. Moreover, the power process needed to be carefully planned to provide a smooth start-up and synchronize the electrical system. These difficulties made the construction and energization process more complicated.

Results:
An important project milestone was reached with the successful construction and energization of the plant that met all technical & safety requirements.

Conclusion:
Resilience, creativity, and commitment are demonstrated by the construction and effective energization of Rawabi Specialized Industrial Gases despite the difficulties posed by COVID-19. In these extraordinary times, the project team including engineers, laborers, contractors, and supervision consultants were demonstrated the highest standard for excellence in safety and project execution.
